The Toyota Auris is a compact 3- or 5-door hatchback that shares the same E150 platform with the Toyota Corolla model. In Europe, the Auris replaced the Corolla hatchback, while the sedan continues to be produced under the Corolla name. In Latin, the word “Auris” means gold. With a new attractive and dynamic design, Toyota expects the Auris to compete with the most luxurious golf class, Volkswagen Golf and Alfa Romeo 147. According to EuroNCAP, the Toyota Auris has scored 35 points (5 stars) - the highest possible score. Well, whether the car will be as popular as the Corolla and whether it will become “golden” will only be shown by time.
A hybrid version of the Toyota Auris Hybrid is produced, which shares its batteries and electric motor with the Toyota Prius. What Car? Magazine named the Toyota Auris Hybrid the greenest car of the year in 2010.

Car description
I bought it brand new in 2013. Toyota Auris 5 doors 1.6 l, power: 97 kW, run on petrol. They are produced for about 7 years and nothing bad can be said about older Auris edition. It is comfortable to drive; it has good road visibility, enough space for a four-member family. There’s plenty of room in a car’s back too, even for three passengers; however, the trunk (boot) could be more spacious for it may be complicated to put your luggage and a stroller, but in case of a hatchback the trunk size can be increased by folding the rear seats. Then you can even take a nap :). On the back floor there’s no divider as it is usually found between two passenger seats, which is similar to a minivan. Tall people will also feel enough comfy in this vehicle, which can be also praised for providing a quiet ride and for being fuel-efficient – on the high way its fuel consumption reaches not more than 5 L/100km. It’s fast, manoeuvrable, stable at high revs and fun to drive both in the city and down the highway. Unload it weighs 1350 kg, loaded – 1750 kg.
Performance
It has a 1.6 litre petrol engine, and 97 kW of power.
Reliability, running costs
As I have already said, if you drive steady and without sudden brake actions, it will consume up to 5 L/100 km on the highway; meanwhile in the city – up to 8 L/100 km. So far I had to pay only for oil change and one or another car’s part as I have my car insurance valid. Overall it was cheap.
Recommendations to buyers
If you are very much interested in Toyota Auris 2013, I’d recommend first to go and do a test drive before purchasing a new vehicle. In fact, if you really wanna make a wise decision, it’ll be a great idea to get behind the wheel of several competing car models. But if you have already made up your mind, the test drive step mustn’t be skipped.
