The design of the new Sharan is really very similar to other Volkswagen models - the ideas are simple, acceptable and eye-catching. Inside, the instrument panel is very similar to the Golf Plus, here you will find very good quality of materials, excellent sound insulation, impeccable arrangement of instruments, only the front window pillars somewhat interfere with the view. The car became even bigger - it lengthened by as much as 22 cm, widened by all 9.2 cm, and the wheelbase increased by 7.5 cm. One of the innovations is the sliding side door for easier access to the cabin, and all seats (except the driver) can be folded to a flat surface. The German track has 4 engines: two petrol TSIs with 150 or 200 hp and two diesel TDI engines with 140 or 170 hp. Versions with the 4MOTION all-wheel drive system are also available.

Quiet, quite fuel-efficient (48-38 mpg, depending on the driving mode), powerful engine, precise and smooth gear shifting, high quality interior trim, perfect road lighting, stable on slippery surfaces
No major disadvantages except for the exterior vehicle body assembly and a bit too loud Webasto (in cold winter time)

Car description
VW SHARAN 2012 with modified equipment: comfortline (Bi-Xenon headlights, additional cornering lights, RCD 510 touch-screen radio with integrated MP3 player, start-stop system, keyless entry, a premium hands free system, tinted windows). It has 5 seats and six-speed manual transmission.
Performance
VW 2.0 TDI, 103 kW with 140 HP, CFFB.
Reliability, running costs
It was bought in March 2012. After two years, if to compare equipment and mileage, you can buy Sharan for a better price. Running costs: within a year of owning it 20.000 miles were done, after running 12.000 miles engine oil and filters were changed at the authorized service center (though the manufacturer suggests doing it after 20.000 miles). So after doing 12.000 miles I changed car’s cabin and air filters, fuel filters were changed after doing 20.000 miles (according to manufacturer it should be done after 40.000 miles). After some time seat track protectors were changed 3 times because my kids spoiled them. After doing 10.000 miles, the ADblue fluid was refilled. After witnessing the blockage in the DPF, the filter was removed and cleaned off the car. My note: fuel and air filter were changed according to my personal request, engine oil was bought independently as I was offered at the authorized service center to choose Valvoline oil instead of the one usually recommended for VW.
Recommendations to buyers
My suggestion would be to look for a better-equipped vehicle that would have LED Xenon headlights, which rotate according to the driving direction, hand-free system, a steering wheel control, RCD 510 or RNS type of players and an original TFT LCD monitor (convenient and easy to use while driving). Manual transmission is very precise and great too, though DGS would be a good option even if a bit more expensive. I’d also recommend you to choose the electric sliding doors – allowing closing tight and preventing from unnecessary slamming. This is an ideal vehicle for a family! Electronics, electronic stability system and brakes function perfectly well; it’s been tested under different conditions and in various situations :)
